We are seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Physical Education/Planning Teacher to join our team at Little Birch Elementary. - Utilize 21st-century technology skills to enhance the teaching and learning process.
- Deliver rigorous instruction to all students, promoting academic excellence and social growth.
- Instill in students the importance of ethical principles and democratic values.
- Prepare lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and needs.
- Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the West Virginia Department of Education and board policies.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect an understanding of student learning styles and needs.
- Conduct assessments of student learning styles and use results to support school-wide academic performance goals and instructional activities.
- Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students, according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Work with other staff members to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods, as required by the district.
- Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aides and volunteers.
- Help students analyze and improve their study methods and habits.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formative and summative testing.
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities, as assigned, and sponsor, plan, and implement co-curricular activities/programs, such as curricular fairs, awards programs, and/or field trips, as designated by the principal.
- Maintain a positive role model for students.
- Support the mission of the school district.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with West Virginia Board of Education Policy 4373 (Expected Behavior in Safe and Supportive Schools) and the student handbook.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers to support student learning.
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Participate in staff development activities to improve Standards of Practice for self and colleagues.
- Keep informed and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees, as required.
- Adhere to the Employee Code of Conduct, as outlined in Braxton County Schools' Board of Education/West Virginia Board of Education Policy.
- Implement programs of study.
- Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning.
- Utilize instructional management systems models that increase student learning.
- Monitor student progress towards mastery of instructional goals and objectives.
