Physical Education Teacher Position

As a Physical Education and Health Educator with the West Virginia Department of Education, you will play a vital role in shaping the minds and bodies of our future generations. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of our students, ensuring they meet the requirements of the WV Content Standards and Objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement lesson plans that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
Deliver rigorous instruction to all students, instilling in them the belief and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
Prepare lessons that reflect the guidelines established by the WVDE and board policies, and administrative regulations.
Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to support school-wide academic performance goals and instructional activities.
Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formative and informative testing.
Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
Sponsors, plans, and implements co-curricular activities/programs, such as curricular fairs, awards programs, and/or field trips as designated by the principal.
Maintain a positive role model for students.
Support the mission of the school district.
Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
Manage student behavior in accordance with WV Board of Education Policy 4373 (Expected Behavior in Safe and Supportive Schools) and student handbook.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers to support student learning.
Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Participate in staff development activities to improve Standards of Practice for self and colleagues.
Keep informed and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
Adhere to Employee Code of Conduct as outlined in Braxton County School's Board of Education/West Virginia Board of Education Policy.
Implement programs of study.
Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning.
Utilize instructional management systems models that increase student learning.
Monitor student progress towards mastery of instructional goals and objectives.
Communicate effectively within the educational community, and with parents on a regular basis.
Meet professional responsibilities.
Provide an atmosphere conducive to learning consistent with school/county mission.
Provide curricula required by the state of West Virginia.
Demonstrate behavior which reflects established professional responsibilities (i.e., attendance, punctuality, and verbal/nonverbal communication.
Demonstrate competency in the knowledge and implementation of technology standards; and
Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Minimum Requirements:
