POSITION SUMMARY:
Engage in moderately complex custodial activities within designated areas. Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness and upkeep of CAPPS, Inc. facilities; managing custodial equipment; and ordering supplies as needed. This role may involve training other staff members. Work is performed under general supervision, allowing for some initiative and independent decision-making.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute general cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and washing windows, light fixtures, and carpets.
  • Maintain restrooms, replenish supplies, and utilize cleaning agents appropriately.
  • Clean office furniture, walls, and windows; manage waste disposal; and ensure thorough cleaning of office spaces.
  • Disinfect and clean areas including restrooms, offices, and various facilities.
  • Perform carpet care and maintenance.
  • Clean drapes and upholstery, and maintain venetian blinds and curtain rods.
  • Assist in furniture relocation for cleaning, office reconfigurations, or special events.
  • Operate floor maintenance machinery, including buffers, strippers, vacuums, and extractors.
  • May be tasked with providing clean linens for dormitory beds and collecting soiled linens for laundering.
  • May be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing dormitory rooms; airing out mattresses; and disinfecting gym areas, including exercise equipment and common surfaces.
  • May conduct minor repairs on custodial equipment.
  • May oversee and replenish custodial supply storage.
  • May perform limited landscaping tasks, such as mowing, trimming, and maintaining designated outdoor areas.
  • Adhere to work schedules and attendance policies as outlined by the agency.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Education - High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience - At least six (6) months of relevant experience in custodial practices, materials, and equipment preferred.

Licensure and/or Certification - A valid driver’s license from the state of residence is required.

Custodial Skills - Proficient in performing custodial tasks and operating modern cleaning equipment. Ability to interpret safety labels on cleaning products.

Regulatory Knowledge - Familiarity with TXDPS, state and federal regulations, and related policies is beneficial.

Technology Skills - Competence in Microsoft Office and other relevant software systems (e.g., CAPPS, SharePoint) is essential.

Interpersonal Skills - Must exhibit poise, tact, and diplomacy while fostering positive relationships with colleagues and clients.

Benefits and Retirement Information:

Employees selected for positions within their current salary group will retain their salary.

Employees selected for new titles within their current salary group may receive a salary increase of no more than 3.4%.

Salary is dependent on qualifications and subject to budgetary constraints.
