About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced librarian to join our team at Louisiana Tech University. As a Government Documents Librarian, you will play a critical role in managing our Government Documents collection, providing research support to faculty and students, and serving as a liaison to the College of Applied and Natural Sciences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the acquisition, organization, and preservation of government publications, as well as facilitate access to them and provide information services.
  • Oversee the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) at Louisiana Tech University, including managing the Regional Federal Depository Library and overseeing eleven selective depository libraries across the state.
  • Manage the historical Louisiana Public Documents Depository and provide leadership for the Government Documents Department.
  • Attend national and state meetings and conferences to maintain awareness of current trends emerging in government publications.
  • Work closely with other departments to support the Library's mission and provide research consultation, subject-specific information services, and course-related instruction to students and faculty in the College of Applied and Natural Sciences.
  • Select and deselect information resources in Agriculture and Forestry, Biological Sciences, Health Informatics and Information Management, Human Ecology, and Nursing, with responsibility for developing and managing these collections in consultation with the College's administrators and faculty.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program.
  • Undergraduate degree or relevant experience in Agriculture and Forestry, Biological Sciences, Health Informatics and Information Management, Human Ecology, or Nursing.
  • At least one to two years of relevant work experience in an academic or research library.
  • Experience working with Government Documents.
  • Supervisory and/or management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in public services, providing user-centered information services and/or instruction in an academic or research library.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team within a culturally diverse user community of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills in order to perform tasks and to meet deadlines.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate degree in Agriculture and Forestry, Biological Sciences, Health Informatics and Information Management, Human Ecology, or Nursing.
  • More than two years of relevant work experience in an academic or research library.
  • Experience managing a Government Documents collection.
  • Knowledge of library classification systems and standard cataloging rules.
  • Experience developing and delivering course-related instruction in both in-person and virtual environments.
