Job Summary

CenterPoint Energy is seeking a highly skilled Gas Inspector Associate to join our team. As a Gas Inspector Associate, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and inspecting field work performed by outside contractors to ensure compliance with company standards, specifications, and schedules.

Key Responsibilities
  • Directs, monitors, and inspects contractor construction activities and completes related documentation to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, regulatory requirements, and construction agreements.
  • Attends construction meetings with government representatives (city, county, state) to obtain and provide construction project updates, and relay the information to the crews and management.
  • Provides accurate and complete field construction documentation, including a detailed list of materials used on the job, and ensures timely processing of related records to maintain the integrity and accuracy of company records.
  • Reviews and prepares daily progress reports for compliance with applicable contracts and agreements.
  • Responds to customer inquiries for construction or conversion information, provides customers with project status updates, and post-installation troubleshooting to ensure complete customer satisfaction with the service delivery process.
  • Reviews vendor invoices, verifies charges and quantities, and processes as necessary.
  • Reviews and verifies the accuracy and completeness of as-built construction drawings.
  • Occasionally works night and call-outs to support the service delivery process.
Requirements
  • Requires a high school education or GED.
  • Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of gas construction or related work experience.
  • Requires a valid/current state-issued driver's license.
  • Large tapping/plugging, high-pressure/high-stress pipeline experience, a plus.
  • CWI, NACE-AMPP (CP-Coating) certifications are a plus.
