Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited nursing program
  • Current Minnesota Registered Nurse license
  • BLS certification
  • Registered Nurse with a valid license; wound care certification preferred, along with experience in medical/surgical, home health, or wound care
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution preferred; or 1-2 years of relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and web-based database applications

Key Responsibilities:

The practice of Professional Nursing encompasses, but is not limited to:

  • Conducting a thorough assessment of a patient's health status through the collection, analysis, and synthesis of data to establish a health status baseline and care plan. The RN also addresses any changes in the patient's condition.
  • Collaborating with the healthcare team to formulate and coordinate a comprehensive care plan.
  • Designing nursing interventions to be integrated into the care plan.
  • Executing nursing care through independent nursing actions.
  • Implementing interventions that are delegated, ordered, or prescribed by a licensed healthcare provider.
  • Delegating nursing tasks or assigning nursing activities to execute the care plan.
  • Delivering safe and effective nursing care.
  • Fostering a safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Advocating for the best interests of individual patients.
  • Assessing responses to interventions and the effectiveness of the care plan.
  • Collaborating and coordinating with other healthcare professionals in managing and implementing care across various settings and communities.
  • Providing health promotion, disease prevention, care coordination, and case finding.
  • Creating and implementing educational plans based on patient needs and evaluating the effectiveness of teaching.
  • Participating in the development of healthcare policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Being accountable for the quality of care delivered, recognizing the limits of knowledge and experience; addressing situations beyond the nurse's competency; and performing at the level of education, knowledge, and skill expected of a graduate from an accredited nursing program.
  • Managing, supervising, and evaluating nursing practice.
  • Maintaining organizational competencies and nursing competencies relevant to the area of practice.
  • Managing information in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Communicating effectively.
  • Other duties as assigned.
