Parkland Health and Hospital System (PHHS) is committed to delivering exceptional patient care and advancing the field of respiratory care. We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Care Practitioner to join our team on a part-time basis.

Job Summary

The Respiratory Care Practitioner will provide high-quality respiratory care to patients in neonatal, pediatric, and adult populations, as prescribed by physicians and in accordance with established standards and practices. This role requires a strong understanding of cardio-respiratory anatomy and physiology, as well as the ability to apply knowledge of respiratory active drugs and equipment to optimize patient care.

Responsibilities

  1. Evaluate patient needs and provide type and frequency of service consistent with patient requirements.
  2. Apply knowledge of cardio-respiratory anatomy and physiology to respiratory care practices.
  3. Utilize data and laboratory findings to optimize care delivery.
  4. Maintain and apply knowledge of indications, actions, interactions, and adverse reactions of respiratory active drugs.
  5. Perform and document diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in accordance with departmental standards.
  6. Match equipment needs with associated diagnostic/therapeutic intervention.
  7. Demonstrate patient-centered behaviors and provide timely reports to receiving therapists.
  8. Serve as a resource for students, physicians, and other healthcare professionals regarding respiratory care practices.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a Respiratory Care Program from an accredited American Medical Association (AMA) program.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care preferred.
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license from the Texas Medical Board.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) through the National Board for Respiratory Care, Inc. (NBRC).
  • Current Healthcare Provider CPR course completion card.
