Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Staff Pharmacist to join our team at UT Southwestern Medical Center. As a key member of our Cancer Center Infusion Services team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the safe and effective administration of medications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform computer order entry in an accurate, thorough, and timely manner.
  • Review and update medication profiles, ensuring patient charges are accurate.
  • Assess medication orders for therapeutic appropriateness, duplications, interactions, overall effectiveness, and safety.
  • Communicate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Participate in cost-effective use and selection of pharmaceuticals.
  • Document clinical activities, demonstrating cost savings and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Manage technicians and other supportive personnel, delegating tasks and validating accuracy of drug doses dispensed.
  • Audit and sign out all controlled substances, investigating discrepancies and unusual usage patterns.
  • Enhance personal growth and development through participation in educational programs, in-services, and meetings.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree or PharmD from an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy.
  • 1 year of experience in a hospital setting, with 1 year of retail experience preferred.
  • Eligibility for licensure by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) is required, with a Texas license obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
  • Sterile compounding (IV) certification accredited by ACPE.
