Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Virtualization Engineer to join our team at SAIC. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing virtualized environments to support our business operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Virtualization and Cloud Infrastructure
    • Design and implement virtualized environments using VMware vSphere and other cloud infrastructure technologies.
    • Configure and manage ESXi cluster servers, vCenter Server, and other virtualization components.
    • Setup and configure HA, vMotion, and DRS to ensure high availability and disaster recovery.
  • VDI and Desktop Virtualization
    • Install and configure VMware Horizon View to provide secure and scalable desktop virtualization solutions.
    • Manage and maintain VDI environments, including user profiles, desktop images, and application delivery.
  • Server and Storage Management
    • Manage and maintain server infrastructure, including Windows and Linux servers, storage systems, and network devices.
    • Perform security hardening, patching, and server certificate updates to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including infrastructure, operations, and engineering, to ensure seamless integration and support.
    • Provide technical guidance and support to system administrators and other stakeholders to resolve issues and improve processes.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in virtualization and cloud infrastructure, with a focus on VMware vSphere and VDI.
  • Skills and Qualifications
    • VMware vSphere, vCenter, and Horizon View certifications.
    • Experience with ESXi cluster servers, vCenter Server, and other virtualization components.
    • Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems, as well as storage systems and network devices.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Certifications
    • VMware VCP/VCAP and/or VDI Certification.
    • Experience with Microsoft SQL and other database management systems.
  • Cloud and Virtualization Experience
    • Experience with cloud infrastructure technologies, including AWS and Azure.
    • Knowledge of Hyperconverged Infrastructures (HCI) and other hypervisor technologies.
