Senior Virtualization Engineer

Job Summary

The Senior Virtualization Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing VMware virtualization environments. This includes configuring and managing ESXi cluster servers, setting up and configuring HA, vMotion, and DRS, and monitoring the health of VMs operating in various data centers. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of multi-vendor server operating systems, experience with VMware Horizon View, and a strong understanding of enterprise Windows environment operations and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement VMware virtualization environments
  • Configure and manage ESXi cluster servers
  • Set up and configure HA, vMotion, and DRS
  • Monitor the health of VMs operating in various data centers
  • Manage replications and VM movements between data centers
  • Manage disaster recovery of the virtualized environment using SRM
  • Support VMware management tools
  • Install, configure, and manage VDI solutions utilizing VMware Horizon
  • Provide support to system administrators in resolving VDI issues and virtual server issues
  • Maintain and update environmental documentation, standard Operating Procedures, and engineering documentation

Requirements

  • Must have the ability to install and configure vCenter Server
  • Must be able to work with ESXi cluster servers
  • Must have experience monitoring the health of VMs operating in various data centers
  • Experience with VMware Horizon View, VMware vCenter, vSphere Client, and Web Client
  • Strong understanding of enterprise Windows environment operations and maintenance
  • Experience with performing root cause analysis, risk identification, and risk mitigation
  • Interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate effectively

Preferred Qualifications

  • VMware certification VCP/VCAP and/or VDI Certification
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with VMware virtual environment and Microsoft Hyper-V
  • Strong experience with Microsoft SQL
  • Experience providing guidance on optimization of desktops for platform interoperability

Target Salary Range

$80,001 - $120,000
