Talascend is seeking a skilled Senior Virtualization Engineer to join our team in Washington, DC.


Job Summary:
As a Senior Virtualization Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing virtualized environments using VMware technology. You will work closely with our infrastructure and operations teams to evaluate business needs and provide end-to-end technical solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in Windows and network management skills, as well as excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities:
Install and configure vCenter Server
Configure, manage, and maintain ESXi cluster servers
Setup and configure HA, vMotion, and DRS
Monitor health of VMs operating in various data centers
Manage replications and VM movements between data centers
Manage disaster recovery of the virtualized environment using SRM
Support VMware management tools (i.e., Aria Operations, Log Insight, etc.)
Install, configure, and manage VDI solutions utilizing VMware Horizon

Requirements:
Minimum of 8 years of related experience
Ability to install and configure vCenter Server
Experience working with ESXi cluster servers
Experience monitoring the health of VMs operating in various data centers
Experience with VMware Horizon View, VMware vCenter, vSphere Client, and Web Client, and VMware Workstation
Strong knowledge of multi-vendor server operating systems
Demonstrated experience in all aspects of enterprise Windows environment operations and maintenance (O&M) and engineering
Working knowledge using and configuring Windows Distributed File System and CIFS
Experience with performing root cause analysis, risk identification, and risk mitigation
Interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate effectively
Demonstrated experience in a fast tempo ITSM support environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Active Public Trust Clearance
VMware certification VCP/VCAP and/or VDI Certification
Extensive knowledge and experience with VMware virtual environment and Microsoft Hyper-V
Strong experience with Microsoft SQL
Experience providing guidance on optimization of desktops for platform interoperability and acting as liaison between Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) technologies
Experience with VMware 7 preferred, VMware 8 is ideal
Experience with Hyperconverged Infrastructures (HCI), and additional Hypervisor and VDI technologies especially Nutanix
Experience with any other cloud environments including AWS and/or Azure Certifications

Scripting Experience:
PowerShell and VBScript

Experience with Infrastructure as code technologies such as Terraform, Ansible, etc.
DISA STIG and CIS Benchmark guidelines for Microsoft Windows servers
