Job Overview

Mercy Flights Inc is seeking applications for a full-time Operations Field Supervisor.

The Operations Field Supervisor holds direct accountability and authority over medical operations personnel during assigned shifts. This role ensures adherence to all federal, state, and local EMS regulations while enforcing company policies, guidelines, protocols, contracts, and directives. The successful candidate will work a designated schedule as assigned by the Ground Manager.

Position Details:

  • Full-time, exempt role;
  • Twelve (12) hour shifts;

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates daily communication with Supervisors on other shifts;
  • Coordinates activities as directed by the Ground Manager or VPO;
  • Provides ongoing guidance to all assigned EMS units and medical staff;
  • Oversees all field operations during assigned shifts, delegating tasks as necessary, including unit staffing, unit posting, equipment stocking, vehicle maintenance, and cleanliness;
  • Participates in Operations and Leadership meetings, and other meetings as required;
  • Monitors all medical operations, taking corrective action as needed regarding any policy or regulation breaches, and resolving issues that may affect operational readiness and efficiency;
  • Evaluates the performance of all medical personnel in accordance with company policy, guidelines, and protocols. Engages in accountability and feedback discussions with medical staff. Develops personnel by initiating and implementing performance improvement plans;
  • Prepares oral or written reports to Leadership regarding all matters related to medical personnel, including staff feedback, concerns, and recommendations;
  • Completes all necessary forms and reports as mandated by policy and guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Paramedicine or equivalent education and experience necessary to obtain an Oregon Paramedic license;
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience working at a Paramedic level on a 911 ambulance. Previous EMS experience below the Paramedic level may also be considered;
  • Oregon Paramedic License;
  • Valid Oregon Driver's License;
  • Nationally Registered Paramedic certification. If not certified, proof of continuing education that meets Nationally Registered Paramedic standards is required at recertification times;
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS or PEPP certifications, to be obtained within eighteen (18) months of starting the position;
  • Must successfully complete and pass a pre-employment and annual Paramedic physical exam and functional testing as a condition of continued employment;
  • Must meet and maintain competencies required of a Paramedic;
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from managers, subordinates, customers, outside agencies, and the public;
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations;
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and guidelines clearly and legibly;
  • Requires proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), and a working knowledge of internet and web-based applications.
