Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Sales Associate to join our team at the Navy Exchange. As a Sales Associate, you will be the face of our company, responsible for providing exceptional customer service and promoting our products and services.

Duties and Responsibilities:Customer Service:
  • Proactively engage with customers to understand their needs and preferences.
  • Ask questions and listen attentively to customers to provide personalized solutions.
  • Direct customers to merchandise and inform them about upcoming events, promotions, and mobile offers.
  • Provide premier customer service, ensuring a positive and memorable experience for every customer.
  • Build positive, inclusive, and respectful relationships with customers, taking accountability for your own actions and outcomes.
Organization:
  • Maintain a clean and organized store appearance, ensuring a welcoming environment for customers.
Sales:
  • Cross-sell products and have a thorough knowledge of the store layout to effectively assist customers.
  • Make suggestions to customers on the latest trends and current promotions based on their individual needs.
  • Upsell products, leveraging your knowledge of product features and benefits to drive sales.
  • Use a Point-of-Sales system to process cash exchanges, discounts, gift cards, credit cards, and debit cards, ensuring accurate handling of cash and returns.
  • Complete various forms of paperwork, reports, and reconciliation to maintain accurate records.
Inventory:
  • Be responsible for merchandise, completing all inventory processes, and ensuring accurate ticketing.
  • Participate in periodic inventories to maintain accurate stock levels.
Dependability:
  • Adhere to assigned work schedules and follow through on work assignments accurately and completely.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:Product Knowledge:
  • Basic knowledge of products and merchandise is required.
Experience:
  • Retail experience is preferred but not required.
Communication Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents, such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers, peers, and management.
  • Ability to communicate on the telephone with proper etiquette.
Mathematical Skills:
  • Basic math functions, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, are required.
Reasoning Ability:
  • Ability to multitask while being attentive to customers and remaining flexible to the needs of the business.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative independently of direct supervision.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This position involves constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing for at least two consecutive hours. May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. Vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Involves lifting at least 25 lbs. and up to 50 lbs. in some departments. Work is typically performed indoors but may be assigned outdoors depending on location.

Work Hours:

Available to work a variety of hours, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
