Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced preservation project management specialist to join our team as a Supervising Project Manager, Property Care. This role will oversee the assessment and prioritization of preservation and maintenance needs, as well as the development and implementation of preservation projects and capital improvements for our historic properties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with staff to conduct regular property surveys and ensure a thorough understanding of property needs and issues.
  • Develop and implement long-term work plans and budgets, ensuring effective coordination across teams.
  • Oversee the development and review of project plans and bidding documents, and implement projects in accordance with preservation philosophy and best practices.
  • Manage a portfolio of projects to support the work plan, and train and mentor staff to effectively manage property assessments and project development.
  • Support fundraising efforts, identifying potential funding sources and developing grant proposals and funding requests.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and minimum six years of job-related experience, or equivalent combination of skilled credentials.
  • Thorough understanding of project management principles and best practices, with the ability to effectively plan and implement work processes.
  • Experience in the development and management of small and large construction projects.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and manage staff using a team-based approach.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interact diplomatically and communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable means of transportation required.
  • Commitment to the highest standards of professionalism, excellence, and diversity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in historic preservation, engineering, architecture, conservation, or a related field.
  • Experience with preservation project planning and an understanding of the Secretary of Interior's Standards for Historic Properties.
  • Formal training or professional certification in project management and/or related disciplines.
