Job Title: Senior Accounting Manager

Join the University of Texas System as a Senior Accounting Manager and play a key role in leading the financial reporting and accounting functions for the U. T. System Administration and institutions.

About the Role:

The Senior Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing and implementing all GASB pronouncements for 14 institutions and System Administration, including the consolidated annual financial report preparation process. This role will also involve working closely with external consultants and auditors to ensure appropriate research has been completed for all current and future GASB pronouncements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and implement all GASB pronouncements for 14 institutions and System Administration
  • Prepare the consolidated annual financial report for 14 institutions and System Administration
  • Work with external consultants and auditors to ensure research has been completed for all current and future GASB pronouncements
  • Communicate with U. T. institutions, the State Comptroller, external auditors, and key state agency stakeholders
  • Review and interpret GASB requirements
  • Provide training workshops for 14 institutions on GASB requirements
  • Manage direct reports and allocate tasks evenly across the team
  • Identify innovative methods to streamline financial reporting capabilities
  • Design and execute a system of internal controls to ensure operations are effective and efficient
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
  • 10 years or more of experience in accounting, finance, financial reporting, and/or auditing
  • CPA certification preferred
Working Conditions:
  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
  • Uses standard office equipment
  • Occasional evening or weekend hours
  • Hybrid work environment (remote & office)
Additional Information:

The standard retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. However, the incumbent of this position may elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
