Job Overview
The Technical Program Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting faculty members with the preparation and dissemination of intricate course materials and official communications. This position involves supporting various committee functions and ensuring the smooth flow of program-related information regarding policies and operational procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Lead Administrator, faculty, and administrative staff to facilitate ongoing departmental operations.
- Coordinate activities among faculty members, which includes creating and managing spreadsheets, performing data entry, and drafting, proofreading, and editing various documents.
- Provide assistance with committee work and undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Maintain control over keys, manage fixed assets, and oversee surplus and other financial tasks as directed by the Lead Administrator.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in delivering technical support within an academic or professional office setting.
- Proficiency in computer software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and email platforms.
- Strong organizational abilities and the capacity to work independently while also being an effective team player.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ensuring positive interactions with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in managing confidential documents and handling detailed information.
- Demonstrated ability to meet multiple deadlines while maintaining a keen attention to detail.
- Strong writing, grammar, composition, and proofreading skills.
- Familiarity with Windows Operating System, internet browsers, email applications, and scheduling tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework in higher education that reflects knowledge of collegiate programs is preferred.
- Experience in supporting academic programs in higher education or understanding the operations of an academic office is highly valued.
- Knowledge of university policies and procedures is advantageous.
- Familiarity with systems such as HokieMart, Chrome River, CashNet, and the Banner system is desired.
Salary Range
$40,000 - $45,000
Additional Information
Candidates selected for this position will be required to undergo a criminal background check.
