Job Title: Director of Operations

Overview:

The Director of Operations is a key member of our team, responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our complex. This includes overseeing maintenance, set-up and changeovers, custodial and housekeeping services, landscaping and grounds keeping, equipment safety, and capital projects. The Director of Operations will also provide administrative planning, direction, and policies to operating managers and supervisors, ensuring a high-quality service program that meets the needs of our clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations, including managing the facility and all associated systems.
  • Prepare, track, control, and analyze budgets, and participate in developing and administering the facility's operations and capital budgets.
  • Manage event set-up and tear-down, including basketball floors, stage risers, chairs, signs, and banquet functions.
  • Act as the liaison with City and University Services for facility-related functions, such as City Codes, parking, licenses, permits, inspections, and warranties.
  • Select, train, motivate, and evaluate staff, and provide or coordinate training, address deficiencies, and implement discipline and termination procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, and develop and update management reports and manuals.
  • Continuously improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and provide quality customer service.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, facility stakeholders, and users.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 5-7 years of experience in facility operations management, preferably with demonstrated knowledge of physical plant management, supervisory skills, and experience in work crew supervision.
  • Ability to work event nights, weekends, and holidays as required, and to stand and walk for extended periods, climb stairs, and occasionally lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Knowledge of budget preparation and control, OSHA requirements, and basic knowledge of boilers, chillers, refrigeration, and ice making.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation software, and Internet software.
  • Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff, and guests in a clear, business-like, and respectful manner.
