Job Overview:

As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will be responsible for operating a service vehicle and traveling to various job sites to perform repairs, servicing, and maintenance on heavy construction machinery in field settings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive a service vehicle to job sites to conduct maintenance and repair tasks on heavy machinery, including dozers, excavators, and other heavy highway construction equipment.
  • Perform skilled duties such as inspection, diagnosis, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of general heavy construction equipment and heavy trucks.
  • Weld equipment as necessary for repairs.
  • Operate cranes for maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Complete service-related documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance inspections to ensure timely maintenance activities.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the service vehicle and work area to uphold a safe working environment.
  • Utilize knowledge of the construction industry, including experience in operating and repairing heavy machinery.
  • Read and interpret specifications and manuals.
  • Diagnose and repair a wide range of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Safely operate hand and power tools, equipment, and diagnostic devices.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors, supervisors, and equipment operators.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and a thorough understanding of equipment safety protocols.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and move up to seventy (70) pounds; climb, kneel, twist, and bend in various environments.
  • Must possess personal hand tools.
  • Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts, including calculations of rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Capability to identify problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret a wide variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and manage abstract and concrete variables.
