Job Summary

Hammer Construction is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. As a key member of our site operations team, you will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment used in construction, maintenance, and repair of sitework projects, roads, parking lots, and other job sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Equipment Operation: Operate heavy equipment of various sizes and weights used in site, parking lot, or road construction and paving.
  • Safety Procedures: Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Problem Solving: Bring problems to the attention of the Foreman, Superintendent, Safety Director, or HR Director.
  • Daily Procedures: Follow daily procedures and protocols as set forth in job orientations and trainings.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or needed repairs to the foreman or shop manager; clean equipment.
  • Site Control: Control traffic at worksites by flagging to guide traffic through work areas, as required or assigned.
  • Physical Demands: This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.
Requirements
  • Experience: One to five years' experience in operating heavy equipment, with two years preferably related to heavy construction.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of GPS machinery is a plus but not required.
  • Physical Abilities: Ability to endure physical demands such as bend, stoop, squat, or stand for a significant period of time, lift at least fifty pounds, climb a ladder, and withstand outside temperature changes.

  • Pre-Employment Screening: A pre-employment drug screen applies to this position.
  • Motor Vehicle Record: A motor vehicle record of 3 years history may also apply if candidate will drive company vehicle.
