Position Overview:
As a key leader in our logistics operations, you will oversee the safe and efficient handling of materials and finished goods from receipt to shipment, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Resource Management: Strategically allocate resources including equipment, personnel, and materials to meet performance targets set in collaboration with Production Management.
  • Cold Storage Coordination: Manage relationships with cold storage and freight forwarding facilities, ensuring inventory accuracy and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Yard Management: Oversee the movement and storage of trailers within the yard, including spotting duties.
  • Activity Documentation: Maintain accurate records of shipping and receiving activities, analyzing results against established benchmarks and discussing variances in team meetings.
  • Supervisory Duties: Handle all supervisory functions such as scheduling, performance management, hiring, training, and disciplinary actions.
  • Forklift Fleet Oversight: Monitor the forklift fleet to ensure operational safety and functionality.
  • Load Scheduling: Organize and document all incoming and outgoing shipments, collaborating closely with distribution centers and logistics partners to ensure timely delivery.
  • Continuous Improvement: Utilize focused improvement tools to identify root causes of issues and support ongoing enhancement initiatives.
  • Shift Transitions: Facilitate smooth transitions between shifts, ensuring effective communication of critical information.
  • Safety Compliance: Uphold a safe working environment by implementing and enforcing safe work practices and training employees accordingly.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure adherence to quality and food safety protocols, actively participating in the prevention and correction of quality-related issues.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A four-year degree in business management, operations management, agricultural science, food science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience in a food manufacturing setting.
  • Knowledge of good manufacturing practices, hazard analysis, and food safety principles.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, across all organizational levels.
  • Proven ability to motivate and develop team members.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with SAP business software is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and physical demands.
  • Regular physical activity may include lifting up to 50 pounds and performing tasks that require vision and dexterity.
