Job Title: Logistics Supervisor

Location: Batavia, IL

Pay: $25 - $30 per hour

Shift: 1st Monday-Friday

Job Summary

The Logistics Supervisor will oversee the shipment and delivery of goods, as well as the warehouse personnel, ensuring safety, efficiency, and quality. This role requires maintaining a high level of integrity and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safety for self and team by adhering to company safety guidelines and wearing proper PPE.
  • Manage and coordinate the organization, staffing, and operational activities of the logistics team, clearly defining daily priorities.
  • Direct workflow and review the work of logistics team members.
  • Develop clear lines of responsibilities for logistics team members.
  • Investigate variances or discrepancies in stock levels and perform analysis of transactions to determine the root cause.
  • Maintain accurate records and files of inventory movements.
  • Meet with team members to identify and resolve problems.
  • Manage inventory of steel and fittings; establish and maintain communication with suppliers, customers, customs brokers, carriers, and others involved in the shipment and delivery of goods.
  • Ensure that goods are shipped accurately and on time, with all documentation completed and invoiced properly.
  • Oversee outside services (e.g., Plating) by issuing POs, receiving plated parts, and delivering them to the next operation within the plant.
  • Lead the transportation quoting process with carriers for expedite/hot shipments to arrive at the best cost options, providing quotes to management for approval.
  • Perform other ad hoc projects as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a logistics supervisor or progressive experience in a logistics role in a technical, industrial, or manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with international shipping.
  • Proficiency in MS Project, Outlook, Word, Excel, and Windows.
  • SAP knowledge preferred.
  • Strong sense of urgency and time management skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Flexibility with work scheduling, including overtime as needed.
  • Basic mathematical skills to perform operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and basic algebra. Ability to make fine adjustments in equipment settings.
  • Teamwork ability; works well with others and communicates effectively with all associates.
  • Ability to train and coach others for success.

Essential Functions / Physical Demands:

  • Stationary work (at least 50%) and/or frequent movement (at least 50%).
  • The ability to sit, stand, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, and lift.
  • Ability to lift at least 40 pounds.
  • Exposure to hot or cold environments.
  • Exposure to loud noises.
