As a Mechanical Engineer, you will undertake fundamental mechanical, electrical, and field construction tasks. You will learn to create budgetary mechanical/electrical estimates based on program and schematic design data using advanced estimating software.

In addition, you will assist in evaluating mechanical and electrical alternatives during the preconstruction phase and conduct systems analysis for selected projects. You will also learn to formulate the mechanical and electrical scopes of work necessary for the bidding process and contribute to bid analysis while providing insights during subcontractor selection.

Furthermore, you will assist in developing sequencing requirements for various systems and propose solutions to meet project timelines. You will gain familiarity with design documents to identify potential quality issues and aid in the creation of constructability review reports.

Your role will also involve performing job inspections to ensure compliance with specifications and timely completion of work. You will assist with the shop drawing and submittal process to align with contract documents and participate in the commissioning process, which includes developing pre-functional checklists and conducting functional testing.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Advanced Engineer Duties

In this position, you will also be responsible for generating, issuing, and executing the Commissioning Plan for assigned projects. You will interact independently with project teams regarding deliverables and represent the company in a professional manner.

Your responsibilities will include reviewing compliance of shop drawings and submittals from subcontractors before they are sent to the design team, leading the mechanical/electrical coordination process, and participating in all construction phases from initiation to completion.

You will develop schedules for mechanical and electrical systems, conduct site inspections, and submit reports to the project team. Additionally, you will create constructability reviews and provide reports to the project team, participate in job pursuit presentations, and provide budgetary mechanical/electrical estimates for assigned projects.

As you gain experience, you will review mechanical and electrical options during the preconstruction phase and complete systems analysis for selected projects. You will also assist in the completion of bid analysis and provide input during subcontractor selection, develop sequencing requirements, and identify potential quality issues in design documents.

Finally, you will perform job inspections to ensure specifications are met and work is completed efficiently. You will engage in the shop drawing and submittal process and participate in the commissioning process, including developing pre-functional checklists and conducting functional testing.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to execute work accurately and efficiently.
  • Intermediate verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Ability to interpret plans, drawings, and specifications.
  • Familiarity with construction management methods and tools.
  • Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills.

Education: A Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, architectural engineering, or a related field is required. Equivalent relevant experience may be considered.

Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in construction and/or engineering is required.
