EdgeCore Digital Infrastructure is in search of a Lead Automation Engineer to enhance its dynamic team. This role will be integral to the operations division, focusing on the dependability and excellence of the Building Management System (BMS), Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS), and Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) systems. The selected candidate will assist in the daily operations of data centers, drive quality and standardization efforts, and support the design and construction phases related to these systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure optimal performance of BMS, EPMS, and DCIM systems, delivering precise data and timely alerts.
  • Supervise the design, construction, and quality assurance of power, IT, and software systems for EdgeCore Data Centers. Review and create design documentation, offer programming assistance, and engage in testing and commissioning activities.
  • Maintain design standards for BMS, ensuring uniformity in system topology, graphics, functionality, and alerts across operations and updates.
  • Collaborate with Site Operations, IT, and Information Security teams on system configurations, maintenance, vulnerability management, and troubleshooting of control hardware.
  • Conduct thorough root cause analyses for system failures, providing comprehensive reports and actionable recommendations.
  • Engage with clients to lease data center space, integrating customer specifications into operations and ensuring contractual obligations are fulfilled.
  • Develop and uphold policies, procedures, support documentation, test plans, and change management records.
  • Ensure the cybersecurity of operational technology equipment, managing firmware, vulnerabilities, configurations, backups, and restoration processes. Coordinate deployments and upgrades with vendors and internal teams.
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support for emergency incidents and oversee third-party vendors for operational assistance.
  • Design and implement training programs for internal personnel and clients on BMS, EPMS, and DCIM systems.
  • Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards (e.g., ISO, ANSI, ASHRAE).
  • Propose and execute initiatives aimed at enhancing system performance, reliability, and efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical/electrical engineering, computer science, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Over 7 years of experience in programming and controls within critical facilities; experience in data centers is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with power distribution and mechanical systems in data centers or similar environments is preferred.
  • Understanding of data center network infrastructure and virtualized environments is preferred.
  • Ability to test and modify systems software in various programming languages.
  • Experience with Niagara, DGLux, ALC, SkySpark, Mosquito, and Schneider EcoStruxure is preferred.
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation, Distech Controls, and ALC Controls is preferred.
  • Formal certifications in control systems architecture (CCE, CAP, CCST, CMVP, PLC Practitioner) are preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry trends, technologies, and best practices in data center controls management.
  • Ability to manage multiple teams and disciplines, including vendors.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Bluebeam, and cloud-based applications (e.g., SharePoint).
  • Proficiency in communication protocols/systems such as BACNET, Modbus, Ethernet IP, MSTP, ALC web control, and Ethernet TCP.
  • Proficiency in Java and HTML is preferred.
  • Experience with emerging communication protocols/systems such as MQTT, BACNET Secure Connect, RF, RS-232, RS-485, SNMP, CANBUS, and mesh networks is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%, subject to business needs.
