As the Senior Director of Project Portfolio Management, you will oversee our IT project portfolio, leading our Management Information Systems (MIS) Project Management Team towards excellence. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, you will embody the vision and values of Imperial, establishing and upholding innovative project management and business analysis practices, methodologies, and standards. Your strategic leadership will be crucial in advancing key initiatives and special projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the VP of Information Technology to drive strategic planning and synchronize activities across all departments.
  • Lead the MIS team in both short-term and long-term planning efforts.
  • Develop and implement best practices, processes, tools, and protocols for effective portfolio, program, and project management.
  • Maintain ongoing engagement with Business Leads, Executive Leadership, and the MIS VP to ensure alignment of project portfolio priorities with business objectives.
  • Provide detailed and insightful status reports to stakeholders and senior management regarding the project portfolio.
  • Inspire and guide the Project Management team, overseeing all personnel-related responsibilities, including recruitment, goal setting, motivation, performance evaluations, professional development, and disciplinary actions.
  • Manage portfolios comprising multi-project programs, offering organization, guidance, and oversight of project management activities.
  • Direct the Project Management team in defining project scope, requirements, objectives, and deliverables that support superior business outcomes in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Encourage continuous technical and professional growth through formal and informal training, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Monitor the overall project portfolio budget, tracking actual versus projected expenditures, and investigating discrepancies to ensure fiscal accountability.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with senior leadership across the organization and the parent company, influencing processes, decisions, and outcomes.
  • Work with the MIS Leadership team to create, review, and consolidate project plans, ensuring resource alignment and resolving potential conflicts.
  • Identify, assess, and manage portfolio risks, providing expert risk management guidance to the Project Management team.
  • Lead negotiations regarding contracts, scope of work, and ongoing cost management related to third-party vendors.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirement: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience, 5 years of Project Management experience, and ERP implementation.

Preferred Education and Experience: MBA or Master's degree. Project Management Certification. 8+ years of Project Management experience, 4+ years leading large, complex projects or programs, and 3+ years leading teams.
