With over 125 employees, including more than 50 attorneys, our partner organization works tirelessly to expand access to justice for all, identify needs in our community, and challenge systems, laws, and policies that adversely affect the underserved and marginalized.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Education Legal Rights Attorney to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will advocate for children suspected of having disabilities or who are already identified as having a disability, assisting them in accessing appropriate educational services and public benefits.

The ideal candidate will have litigation experience and a background in children's law, education, psychology, the medical field, and/or related services. If you are passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and families, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities
  • Advocate for children with disabilities to access educational services and public benefits
  • Collaborate with community families and children in the foster care system
  • Develop and implement effective litigation strategies to support clients
  • Work effectively with a large caseload and function professionally in a highly stressful environment
  • Develop strong relationships with community partners and stakeholders
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant laws, policies, and best practices in children's law and education
Requirements
  • Active membership in the Florida State Bar
  • Experience serving low-income communities is preferred but not required
  • Demonstrable awareness and sensitivity to the needs of the populations we serve
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Ability to speak more than one language is a plus
