About the Position

Hirefinder is seeking an experienced attorney to join our team as a Veterans Benefits Attorney. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality legal services to veterans in need.

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled attorney with a passion for advocating for the rights of veterans. The ideal candidate will have experience in handling Veterans' discharge upgrades, housing issues, family issues, and other small civil matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal services to veterans, including Veterans' discharge upgrades, housing issues, family issues, and other small civil matters;
  • Work closely with our team to identify and address the legal needs of veterans in our community;
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to advocate for the rights of veterans;
  • Collaborate with other attorneys, support staff, volunteers, and community partners to provide comprehensive legal services;
  • Stay up-to-date on relevant laws and regulations affecting veterans' rights;
  • Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and community partners to ensure seamless service delivery;
  • Manage a high-volume caseload and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines;
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures to ensure the effective delivery of legal services;
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements

  • Active membership in the Florida State Bar;
  • Candidate experience includes but is not limited to, providing civil and administrative legal services to veterans and their families;
  • Experience serving low-income communities preferred but not required;
  • A demonstrable awareness and sensitivity to the needs of the veteran populations our organization serves is necessary;
  • Ability to work effectively with a large caseload and function professionally within a highly stressful environment;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills;
  • Ability to work independently at times and also as an effective part of a team;
  • Excellent writing and communication skills;
  • The ability to speak more than one language is a plus;
  • A willingness to, at times, work beyond a minimum seven-hour workday, including evenings and weekends.
