With over 125 employees, including more than 50 attorneys, our partner organization works tirelessly to expand access to justice for all, identify needs in the community, and challenge systems, laws, and policies that adversely affect the underserved and marginalized.

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Education Legal Rights Attorney to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will advocate for children suspected of having disabilities or who are already identified as having a disability, assisting them in accessing appropriate educational services and public benefits.

You will serve both community families and children in the foster care system, working closely with a large caseload and functioning professionally within a highly stressful environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advocate for children with disabilities, ensuring they receive appropriate educational services and public benefits
  • Work with community families and children in the foster care system, providing support and guidance
  • Manage a large caseload, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines
  • Collaborate with a team of attorneys, support staff, volunteers, and community partners to achieve shared goals
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and community partners
Requirements
  • Active membership in the Florida State Bar
  • Experience serving low-income communities is preferred but not required
  • Demonstrable awareness and sensitivity to the needs of the populations we serve
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Ability to speak more than one language is a plus
