PACU Recovery Room Nurse

Overview
St. David's Surgical Hospital is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) team. As a PACU Recovery Room Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to patients recovering from surgery.
Responsibilities
- Assess and plan individualized care for patients in the PACU, ensuring their needs are met and their comfort is prioritized.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, monitoring patients for adverse reactions and reporting any concerns to the medical team.
- Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
- Monitor patients' vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation, and take prompt action if any abnormalities are detected.
- Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families, addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development and implementation of evidence-based practices that enhance patient outcomes.
Requirements
- 1 year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) in PACU or Critical Care Unit.
- Previous acute care experience is preferred.
- Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License. If Compact License, Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification per St. David's Healthcare policy.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification per St. David's Healthcare policy.
