About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Equipment Operator to join our team at Star Construction. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for safely operating a variety of equipment, including drill equipment, backhoes, and skid-steer loaders, to support our telecommunications construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely operate drill equipment on job sites, including directional drills, backhoes, and skid-steer loaders.
  • Restore and/or landscape disturbed areas of the job site.
  • Develop and maintain a bore schedule.
  • Be responsible for site set-up and clean-up.
  • Load and unload tools, materials, and equipment on trucks.
  • Be involved in new site Job Safety Analysis (JSA) prior to starting construction.
  • Set up safety perimeters using signage, cones, and safety barriers, and at times flag traffic.
Requirements
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Be authorized to work in the United States for this company.
  • Be able to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Have experience with drilling equipment and understand their capabilities and limitations.
  • Be able to proficiently use locators to safely identify utilities.
  • Have experience with drill set up and design processes.
  • Be able to read and understand work orders, safety rules, and operating instructions.
  • Have previous construction or utility construction experience.
Additional Qualifications
  • Have a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement.
  • Have an MVR record that is deemed acceptable by the company.
  • Be able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Be able to work overtime, after hours, on weekends, for emergencies, or on-call.
Physical Abilities and Exposures

Routinely, you will work alone in remote locations and in confined spaces with arms above shoulder level, operate vehicles and heavy machinery, squeeze, fine hand motion, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs, and lift greater than 55 pounds. You may be exposed to dust, fumes, or other airborne pathogens.

Occasionally, you may be exposed to toxic or corrosive chemicals, moving machinery parts and pieces, and long driving and sitting.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $19.00 to $22.00 per hour, based on experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including weekly paychecks, paid time off, parental leave, holidays, insurance, 401(k) with company match, stock purchase plan, education reimbursement, and legal insurance.
