Territory Sales Manager Job Description

Job Summary:

The Territory Sales Manager is a key position responsible for driving new business development and account management of the wholesale fuel division. This role requires a strong focus on recruiting and maintaining profitable branded and unbranded dealer accounts within an assigned territory.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the setup of new accounts and contracts, including pricing, freight, taxes, and invoice requirements.
  • Maintain awareness of competitor sales efforts and programs within the assigned territory.
  • Develop and update account plans for key growth customers to ensure they meet contract requirements.
  • Optimize the company's return on capital deployed.
  • Counsel and support customers on retailing factors, including competitive pricing, customer service, and retail facility appearance.
  • Identify opportunities through prospecting, customer relationship management, and external resources.
  • Maintain documentation of sales activities, customer efficiency, and related expenses.
  • Assume accountability for individual site volume performance and attain quantitative and qualitative performance within the assigned territory.
  • Manage and deliver scope, schedule, and budget for assigned imaging and customer support projects.
  • Work closely with internal and external teams to source potential wholesale marketer acquisitions.
  • Maintain knowledge of brand requirements and ensure necessary remedies are completed.
  • Have a working knowledge of the Petroleum Marketers Practice Act and dealer fuel agreements.
  • Partner with customers to develop long-term relationships, generate additional sales, and guide problem resolution discussions.
  • Attend industry conventions and develop professional relationships within these organizations.
  • Advises customers on equipment upgrades and assists with the purchase or upgrade process.
  • Demonstrate leadership with customers by directing sales calls, managing sales contracts, and closing sales.
  • Keep the sales pipeline full and manage opportunities through all stages of the business plan to achieve sales volume.
  • Perform analysis of potential new business deals and contract renewals and present proforma to the executive team.
  • Maintain accurate customer details and documents in the CRM system.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all relevant customer issues, pricing, and billing procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent of 3-5 years' experience in the field.
  • 5+ years of sales management experience with a focus on new business development, marketing, and merchandising.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.
  • Two (2) years of prior customer service experience.

Preferred Skills:

  • Fuel industry experience with knowledge of branded and unbranded programs.
  • Experience with CRM tools.

Work Environment:

The Territory Sales Manager is a full-time position requiring some overnight travel.
