Job Overview

We are currently in search of a proactive Manager of Product Compliance and Certification to lead our Compliance team. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the Certification Division and managing various Certification Programs, including supervisory responsibilities. As a vital member of the Product Compliance Leadership Team, this role requires ensuring departmental accountability and progress, managing resources effectively, and formulating a strategic operational plan that aligns with the mission and values of Fiat Powertrain Technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Engage with global cross-functional teams, including Engineering, to develop strategic objectives related to compliance and certification.
  • Establish systems, policies, and processes that promote organizational excellence and facilitate change management with clarity.
  • Maintain precise performance metrics for the department and generate comprehensive reports.
  • Foster high-level strategic relationships with regulatory authorities by addressing critical issues and cultivating open dialogue and trust.

Certification Oversight:

  • Assess program requirements and implement plans and objectives for the Certification Division, collaborating with other departments within Fiat Powertrain Technologies.
  • Ensure that certification initiatives align with organizational objectives.
  • Conduct meetings related to certification matters with relevant stakeholders to ensure effective communication and problem resolution.
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration with external organizations involved in certification, ensuring that Fiat Powertrain Technologies remains an industry leader.
  • Consult regularly with Legal and Compliance Departments.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of relevant regulations and internal policies.
  • Supervise the preparation and submission of necessary certification documentation to regulatory bodies:
  1. Work closely with product teams to define requirements by interpreting regulations and communicating functional needs.
  2. Support the development and maintenance of compliance processes and procedures, collaborating with engineers to uphold certification requirements.
  3. Monitor regulatory changes and assess their impact on current and future product lines.
  4. Represent the Certification Division in discussions with customers, suppliers, and industry groups.
Collaborate with Quality and Legal departments to manage complaints and high-risk matters.Work with the North American and global Compliance Team to address non-conformities.Lead negotiations with certification authorities when issues arise.Participate in accreditation audits and related activities as necessary.Ensure that all team members prioritize a customer-centric approach to certification.Achieve financial objectives by estimating requirements, preparing budgets, and planning expenditures.Oversee the Certification Division, providing leadership, coaching, and mentorship to staff, while promoting personal and professional development.Guide teams to meet operational metrics and succeed in their responsibilities.Address staff feedback and concerns with urgency and collaboration.Engage in workshops, review publications, and participate in professional associations, representing Fiat Powertrain Technologies at public events as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • A minimum of seven years of professional experience in emissions certification.
  • At least five years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in organizational management, project management, and budget oversight.
  • Proven ability to build consensus, manage complex projects, and make high-level decisions.
  • In-depth knowledge of emissions standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Commitment to collaboration, integrity, and fostering diverse and inclusive work environments.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • Exceptional communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
