We are seeking a highly skilled Pilot Plant Engineer to join our team at Zeon Chemicals Inc.
About the Role:
The Pilot Plant Engineer will be responsible for the daily operation of the pilot plant for emulsion polymerization and finishing. This will involve safely running polymerization reactions, understanding the chemistry of the polymers, and providing engineering support to the R&D Center.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and improve operation of the pilot plant facilities.
- Solve both chemical and mechanical problems.
- Responsibility includes safely running polymerization reactions and understanding the chemistry of the polymers.
- Work will consist of running polymerizations as designed by Research Scientists, as well as developing own work to improve processing of existing products and processes.
- Responsible for the finishing of polymer latex into solid crumb rubber.
- Provide engineering support to the R&D Center.
- Provide support of manufacturing facilities and new product scale up into the manufacturing plants.
- With the variety of projects ongoing, this person will need good organizational skills to prioritize and keep many projects moving simultaneously.
- Good Chemical Hygiene practices are critical, and adhering to safe laboratory practice is a must.
- Continuously seeks ways to improve performance of our facility's operation and ensures that customers' (both internal and external) needs are met. Adhere to the quality system.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by manager.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering is required.
- Co-op experience in an R&D or manufacturing setting is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment is required.
- Good verbal and written communication skills are critical.
- Good MS Office and computer knowledge is expected.
