Job Summary

Puget Sound Energy is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer II to join our Substation Design department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing complex electrical systems for our substations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop professional knowledge and abilities by developing complex engineering plans, designs, specifications, standards, evaluations, and studies associated with new and existing substations.
  • Work on projects that involve the design of 230kV, 115kV, and 12.5kV open-air substations and 115kV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) and other related elements.
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of PSE standards, NEC, NESC, and industry standards.
  • Communicate effectively with diverse audiences, both verbally and in writing.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree or PE license in electrical, mechanical, civil, or other appropriate engineering field.
  • Experience in planning, design, specification preparation, technical field work, project cost estimating, and scheduling.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, prioritization, and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with both internal and external customers on projects.
  • Familiarity with codes and equipment utilized in the design and operation of utility systems.
  • Experience with coordinating external consultants in the execution of a project.
  • Possession of EIT certificate and ability to acquire PE license.
