Position Overview:

The Senior US Economist at The Conference Board is pivotal in crafting and conveying economic forecasts for the United States. This role encompasses the development and upkeep of economic models, offering insights into economic trends, and influencing the US economic perspective for diverse audiences. The ideal candidate will work in close collaboration with essential stakeholders and teams both domestically and internationally to evaluate and disseminate intelligence regarding the US economy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and sustain economic forecasts for the United States.
  • Partner with the Labor Markets Institute to produce labor market predictions.
  • Develop perspectives on US monetary and fiscal strategies.
  • Share forecasts with external research initiatives.
  • Deliver presentations on US economic themes during webcasts and briefings.
  • Create and maintain vital US economic reports and analyses.
  • Contribute to opinion pieces and high-frequency data evaluations.
  • Execute economic scenario modeling and assist in global economic outlook publications.
  • Engage with members, media, and the public to communicate insights.
  • Participate in special projects focusing on US economic issues.
  • Uphold core values of Relevance, Openness, Innovation, Integrity, and Collaboration.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Economics or a related discipline.
  • 5-10 years of experience in macroeconomic analysis.
  • In-depth understanding of the US economy and economic principles.
  • Expertise in data analytics, visualization, and statistical methodologies.
  • Exceptional writing and communication capabilities.
  • Familiarity with analytical software and programming languages.
  • Experience with data platforms such as Haver DLX, CEIC, and Bloomberg.
  • Proven track record of presenting to senior leadership and collaborating in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Prior media engagement is advantageous.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure, adhere to deadlines, and manage projects effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Experience mentoring junior team members is a plus.
