- Acquire and analyze mouth impressions for indirect restorations and removable appliances.
- Conduct teaching and counseling sessions on oral health, tobacco cessation, and diet.
- Perform preventive measures, such as extensive prophylaxis treatment and deep scaling and root planning.
- Submit performance data, dental records, and other relevant information in approved information management systems.
- Consult and refer patients to other specialists as needed.
- Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from a school approved by the American Dental Association (ADA) or the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
- Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
- Completed a 3-year residency in dentistry, oral health, craniofacial sciences, or a related medical science, and one year of full-time experience and/or training in professional dentistry work equivalent to the next lower grade level (GP-13).
- Four years of professional dentistry experience and/or training, equivalent to the next lower grade level (GP-13).
- Ability to distinguish shades of color.
This position requires the incumbent to be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required. Selectees will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing. A pre-placement medical examination is required. Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact.
Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
