Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome and prepare patients for consultations with healthcare professionals.
- Deliver general patient care by adhering to established protocols and practices.
- Collect and document vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, allergies, medications, and the patient's primary concerns.
- Assist healthcare providers during in-office procedures.
- Record patient care plans, test results, and examination findings in the medical records as directed by the healthcare provider.
- Coordinate patient scheduling for diagnostic tests, ensuring follow-up on test completion, and communicate results and care plans to patients via phone or mail as instructed.
- Prepare, sanitize, and maintain medical instruments, ensuring that examination rooms are clean, stocked, and organized, while disposing of contaminated materials in accordance with safety protocols.
- Refer non-routine issues, inquiries, and concerns to the practice administrator or healthcare providers.
- Complete safety checklists and quality control measures as required.
- Uphold patient safety and confidentiality standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the practice administrator, nursing supervisor, or healthcare providers.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Effective communication skills with both staff and patients.
- Comprehensive understanding of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.
- In-depth knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain composure in emergency situations.
- Demonstrate respect and empathy towards patients, their families, and all healthcare team members.
- Proficient computer skills, particularly with medical management software.
Performance Expectations:
- Exhibit a high level of organization and attention to detail.
- Possess strong listening, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly.
- Demonstrate the ability to respond effectively and sensitively to patients of all ages.
- Work effectively with diverse cultural and ethnic groups in a respectful manner.
- Collaborate with a diverse team of staff as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- A minimum of one year of experience in a clinical environment.
- CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) certification is required and must be maintained.
- Willingness to accept instructions and perform repetitive tasks.
- Specialized training may be required.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is mandatory.
- Maintain discretion and confidentiality regarding patient matters.
