The Certified Medical Assistant I provides medical assistance under the supervision of the physician, physician's assistant, or nursing staff. This role is responsible for assisting with patient care, preparing exam spaces, documenting patient data, and ensuring a clean and well-stocked environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist with patient care by completing screening questions, medication reviews, obtaining vital signs, and recording height, weight, and other patient data as required.
- Prepare exam spaces for scheduled procedures.
- Document all care provided in the electronic medical record.
- Deliver care appropriate for the patient's age and development.
- Ensure exam rooms, supply rooms, and other areas of the clinic are clean and well-stocked.
- Clean equipment according to instructions for use and ensure equipment has current safety inspection dates.
- Assist with scheduling appointments, completes electronic patient messages, medication refill requests, and patient forms.
- Collect lab specimens as directed.
- Administer approved medications as directed.
- Current JPS recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and must be maintained throughout employment.
- Current certification from a national registry as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA).
- Certification in Non-Aggressive Crisis Management; must be obtained while in department orientation and maintained throughout employment when working within the Behavioral Health Department.
- Certified Medical Assistant I: years of relevant experience.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Successful completion of a Medical Assistant training program.
- Certification in Non-Aggressive Crisis Management; must be obtained while in department orientation and maintained throughout employment when working within the Behavioral Health setting.
