Job Description and Duties

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Fish and Wildlife Technician. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in supporting our scientists in the development and implementation of the California Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Framework (CEMAF).

Responsibilities:
  • Support field activities, including data collection and equipment maintenance
  • Digitize cannabis features using ARCGIS
  • Procure, calibrate, repair, and fabricate equipment and scientific instruments used for environmental monitoring
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve project goals and objectives
Requirements:
  • Transfer eligibility or passing the Fish and Wildlife Technician exam
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds repeatedly during the workday
  • Ability to swim 50 yards and tread water for at least 5 minutes
  • Ability to stay on task while working independently or remotely
  • Detail-oriented, punctual, solution-minded, and organized
  • Ability to drive 4x4 vehicles and complete simple mechanical and construction tasks using tools
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Teams), ARCGIS, and Survey123
Working Conditions:

The position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule depending on operational need. Travel will include overnight stays and field conditions can be adverse, including heat, cold, rain, poison oak, slippery conditions, and uneven terrain.
