Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Scientist to join our team at the Department of Fish and Wildlife. As an Environmental Scientist, you will play a critical role in conserving and managing California's natural resources, including game species such as bear, elk, and deer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and analyze field data using GPS, GIS, and radio telemetry equipment to inform conservation efforts.
  • Develop and implement surveys to assess impacts on game mammal species and environmental conditions.
  • Manage and maintain statewide databases and spreadsheets to track data and trends.
  • Collaborate with researchers and stakeholders to leverage existing data sets and advance scientific research.
  • Provide training and support to staff on data collection and stewardship protocols.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a dynamic team environment and adapt to changing priorities. You will be required to complete day hikes and collect biological field data in uneven terrain, often in adverse weather conditions.
