Overview:


Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is on the lookout for skilled Fire Safety Engineers to join our team.


The Fire Safety Engineer plays a crucial role within the Engineering division, implementing thorough fire safety measures to achieve optimal risk management for liquid waste mission facilities at the Department of Energy (DOE) Savannah River Site.


Key Responsibilities:
1. Support the SRMC Fire Safety Program to ensure the protection of all liquid waste facilities and personnel.

2. Utilize expertise in fire safety engineering, processes, and protocols for liquid waste initiatives.

3. Provide technical guidance on NFPA codes and standards for various SRMC operations.

4. Conduct or assist in evaluating fire hazards in SRMC-managed facilities.

5. Review designs and modifications of fire safety systems for adherence to relevant codes and standards.

6. Assess building modifications for compliance with applicable fire safety regulations.

7. Develop Fire Safety Engineering Evaluations to support position papers, technical interpretations, and equivalencies.

8. Review procedures for inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire safety systems.

9. Perform assessments of SRMC facilities to ensure fire risks are effectively mitigated.

10. Assist in corrective actions for fire safety issues and establish necessary interim measures to maintain safety until resolutions are implemented.

11. Contribute to the development of Fire Safety Program plans and procedures.

Qualifications:
A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
- A degree in Fire Safety Engineering.
- Familiarity with fire safety codes and standards (NFPA, ICC, etc.).
- Professional experience in engineering.
- Experience in leading diverse fire safety engineering projects or providing support within the Department of Energy.
- Strong technical knowledge of standard concepts, principles, and techniques in the discipline.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills to convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
- A GPA of 2.8 or higher is preferred (please include GPA in your profile).

Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is a prime contractor for the US Department of Energy, overseeing the Liquid Waste operations contract at the Savannah River Site.

Located in Aiken, South Carolina, SRMC is a limited liability company formed by leaders in nuclear operations and environmental remediation, including BWXT, Amentum, and Fluor.

The SRMC Team is responsible for the closure of waste tanks, operation of the Defense Waste Processing Facility, tank farm operations, and associated production and disposal facilities.

USD $59,200.00/Yr.
