Must be US Citizen

Requirements:

  • An advanced degree and experience, a Ph.D. degree and about 10 years' Tritium Fire Protection experience. OR
  • MS degree and 12 years' Tritium Fire Protection experience. OR
  • A BS degree and approximately 15 years' Tritium Fire Protection experience.

Experience/Skills:
  • Considered an internal expert in area of expertise.
  • Contributes to advancing knowledge in field of expertise through various avenues such as internal and external publications and professional society presentations.
  • Can solve complex problems in field.
  • Must have previous experience developing Fire Scenario Document/Fire Hazard Analysis for Tritium facilities.
  • Must have previous experience developing design input documents and reviewing design output documents related to Fire Protection and Life Safety.
  • Candidate must be a Qualified Fire Protection Engineer 2.

Preferred:
  • Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years are preferred.
  • Candidate who is a licensed Professional Engineer.

Responsibilities:
  • Apply technical experience in field of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical fields, and use other technical resources within the company, to resolve complex problems.
  • Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning.
  • Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area(s) of technical expertise.
  • Develop solutions to complex technical problems in fields of expertise.
  • Keep informed on technical needs within the company and technical trends in area of expertise in the external world.
  • Be aware of capabilities of the work group and needs of its customers. Identify technical programs which can be carried out with little guidance and take the initiative to accomplish them.
  • Lead task teams for developing solutions to more complex problems.
  • Prepare plans including schedules, budgets and personnel requirements for solving major technical tasks identified by management.
  • Develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor expenditures of budget and review quality of work performed.
  • Include research, development, testing, quality assurance requirements.
  • Communicate the results and objectives verbally and in manuscript form to customers, colleagues, managers and oversight groups.
  • Prepare reports for external publication.
  • Develop Fire Scenario Documents/Fire Hazard Analysis to support Safety Basis development.
  • Develop design input documents related to Fire Protection and Life Safety.
  • Review design output documents related to Fire Protection and Life Safety.

Area Security Access: Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. After award, the selected candidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on specific work assignments.
