Must be US Citizen
Requirements:
- An advanced degree and experience, a Ph.D. degree and about 10 years' Tritium Fire Protection experience. OR
- MS degree and 12 years' Tritium Fire Protection experience. OR
- A BS degree and approximately 15 years' Tritium Fire Protection experience.
Experience/Skills:
- Considered an internal expert in area of expertise.
- Contributes to advancing knowledge in field of expertise through various avenues such as internal and external publications and professional society presentations.
- Can solve complex problems in field.
- Must have previous experience developing Fire Scenario Document/Fire Hazard Analysis for Tritium facilities.
- Must have previous experience developing design input documents and reviewing design output documents related to Fire Protection and Life Safety.
- Candidate must be a Qualified Fire Protection Engineer 2.
Preferred:
- Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years are preferred.
- Candidate who is a licensed Professional Engineer.
Responsibilities:
- Apply technical experience in field of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical fields, and use other technical resources within the company, to resolve complex problems.
- Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning.
- Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area(s) of technical expertise.
- Develop solutions to complex technical problems in fields of expertise.
- Keep informed on technical needs within the company and technical trends in area of expertise in the external world.
- Be aware of capabilities of the work group and needs of its customers. Identify technical programs which can be carried out with little guidance and take the initiative to accomplish them.
- Lead task teams for developing solutions to more complex problems.
- Prepare plans including schedules, budgets and personnel requirements for solving major technical tasks identified by management.
- Develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor expenditures of budget and review quality of work performed.
- Include research, development, testing, quality assurance requirements.
- Communicate the results and objectives verbally and in manuscript form to customers, colleagues, managers and oversight groups.
- Prepare reports for external publication.
- Develop Fire Scenario Documents/Fire Hazard Analysis to support Safety Basis development.
- Develop design input documents related to Fire Protection and Life Safety.
- Review design output documents related to Fire Protection and Life Safety.
Area Security Access: Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. After award, the selected candidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on specific work assignments.
