Job Overview:
The Virginia Department of Transportation is seeking qualified individuals to join our team as Lab Educators for the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Program. Our organization is dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce that mirrors the communities we serve.

The Lab Educators will play a crucial role in facilitating labs and providing tutoring for students enrolled in the EMS Program, specifically for Paramedic and EMT training.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting and facilitating open labs for students.
  • Assisting in instructional activities during lab and skill practice sessions.
  • Performing administrative tasks as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Paramedic Lab Educator:
Candidates must possess a comprehensive understanding of course material and effective teaching methodologies.

Applicants should have a High School diploma or equivalent, along with Nationally Registered Paramedic status or Virginia Paramedic Certification, and a minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in emergency medical settings. Teaching experience is preferred.


EMT Lab Educator:
Applicants should demonstrate proficiency in course content and effective teaching practices relevant to the EMT Certification level.

A High School diploma or equivalent is required, along with Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician status or Virginia EMT Certification, and 1-3 years of relevant field experience. Experience as an Education Coordinator or teaching is preferred.


Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with Virginia Education Coordinator (EC) certification and additional certifications such as ACLS, PHTLS, AMLS, PALS/EPC, or NAEMSE Instructor are highly regarded.
