Job Summary

Element Materials Technology is seeking a highly skilled General Manager to lead our Ann Arbor, Michigan laboratory. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving operational excellence, fostering colleague engagement, and delivering exceptional results. Reporting to the Division Director, you will work closely with laboratory staff, quality teams, and support functions to ensure we meet customer commitments while creating a safe and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and inspire a culture of safety and excellence, driving operational performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and execute short and long-term business plans, including operational goals, equipment needs, and staffing for the location.
  • Work with quality leaders to improve processes, compliance, and data integrity.
  • Provide managerial guidance to staff on reporting needs and requirements, ensuring timely completion of tasks and accomplishment of lab goals.
  • Prepare and submit accurate forecasts, maintain working capital, and determine corrective actions to achieve plan goals.
  • Provide positive leadership and representation of Element to the public, customers, vendors, and employees through membership in professional organizations and company task forces.
  • Ensure compliance with Element policies, local, state, and federal laws, and maintain an environment of respect and dignity within the location.

Requirements
  • 10+ years of pharmaceutical experience, with exposure to analytical testing, stability, extractables and leachables, and biologics.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience managing an enterprise with at least 25 employees, with 3-6 subordinate exempt level managers/supervisors over multiple shifts.
  • Strong technical leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to organize the lab and provide managerial guidance to staff.
  • Proven track record of success in managerial, technical, and operational competency, both inside and outside the lab.
