Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Stockkeeper I to join our team at the University of Michigan. As a Stockkeeper I, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels, processing orders, and ensuring the efficient flow of goods in our stockroom.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive and verify merchandise shipments, reporting discrepancies to management as needed.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels, including stock rotation and reordering.
  • Process orders from requisitions, identifying chargeable accounts and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Recommend inventory management strategies to optimize stock levels and reduce waste.
  • Transport and deliver stock using two and four-wheel carts or pallet trucks.
  • Identify and package stock items for shipment, ensuring accurate labeling and documentation.
  • Load and unload stock from railway cars and motor vehicles, maintaining a safe and efficient workflow.
  • Assist in reconciling stock shortages and inventory discrepancies.
  • Clean and maintain the stockroom and equipment, adhering to safety protocols.
  • Inspect items for damage and completeness, recording any discrepancies.
  • Record items received, dispensed, or returned, performing regular item counts to ensure accuracy.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and write English, with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to perform a wide range of physical activities, including lifting, bending, and pushing.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment

This is a part-time position, working 20 hours per week, with a flexible schedule that may include weekends and holidays. The University of Michigan is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
