Job Summary

The incumbent will assure optimal safety and efficiency of all functions supervised, ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, and perform all routine and special chemistry tests. The position is responsible for the proper operation of instruments, including maintenance, troubleshooting, quality control analysis, and laboratory information system (LIS) functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of Clinical Laboratory Scientists, Clinical Laboratory Scientist Specialists, and Hospital Laboratory Technicians in the Core Lab.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with various divisions of the Clinical Laboratory and with all related services at ZSFG; affiliated hospitals, health centers, clinics, and outreach clients.
  • Assure optimal safety and efficiency of all functions supervised.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Perform all routine and special chemistry tests.
  • Responsible for the proper operation of instruments, including maintenance, troubleshooting, quality control analysis, and laboratory information system (LIS) functions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a chemical, physical or biological science or medical technology (clinical laboratory science) from an accredited institution or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of work experience as a Licensed CLS performing testing in Core lab (Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, including all sub-areas).
  • Minimum 3+ years (within the last 5 years) experience supervising testing in a clinical lab.
  • Considerable knowledge of clinical laboratory testing in Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, and Urinalysis (including all sub-areas).
  • Considerable knowledge of common and required quality management practices related to clinical laboratory testing in the core laboratory.
  • Proficiency with using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Possesses computer skills adequate to perform the position's responsibilities.
  • Possess excellent skills in interpersonal communication, customer service, critical thinking, and conflict management.
