Position Overview:

Under the guidance of the Operations Manager, the Dispatch Supervisor oversees the activities of various shifts within the Communications Center. This role is crucial in ensuring efficient scheduling, system status management, and adherence to operational guidelines.


Key Responsibilities:

The Dispatch Supervisor employs advanced system status management technology to monitor, update, and direct the location and movement of units effectively.

  • Receive and assess incoming emergency and non-emergency calls, determining appropriate response levels.
  • Allocate resources to meet dynamic system demands and input relevant information into the CAD system.
  • Maintain radio communications with various units including wheelchair, BLS, CCT, and ALS.
  • Document and monitor response times of units to ensure compliance with performance standards.
  • Utilize professional communication skills with all stakeholders, including employees, patients, facilities, and public service agencies.
  • Prepare and submit daily status reports regarding unusual incidents to the Operations Manager.
  • Monitor system performance and relay demands to field personnel.
  • Assist in data collection for patient billing purposes.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Participate in information systems security training and report any issues.
  • Provide proactive support for troubleshooting equipment problems.
  • Assist in modifying calls or plans to meet contract response requirements.
  • Resolve immediate issues in the workplace and participate in quality improvement data collection.
  • Investigate incidents and complaints, providing necessary support and training.
  • Maintain certification in all relevant areas of the Center.
  • Mentor team members and conduct performance evaluations as needed.
  • Support compliance with employment laws and promote diversity and equal opportunity.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and possess a minimum of one year of experience in a high-profile EMS system. Proficiency in CAD and data entry with a typing speed of at least 35 wpm is necessary. Current CPR and First Aid certification or prior Paramedic or EMT certification is preferred. Supervisory experience is advantageous, along with knowledge of local geography and effective communication skills.


Color Vision:
Ability to distinguish and identify different colors is required. Emergency Medical Dispatch Certificate or previous dispatch experience is preferred.
