Facility Overview:

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is a 525-bed tertiary care facility, recognized for housing the only Level I Adult Trauma Center and burn trauma unit in the region. It serves as the primary teaching hospital for Eastern Virginia Medical School.

Role Responsibilities:

The Mobility Technician plays a crucial role in supporting clinical staff and the interprofessional healthcare team under direct supervision. Responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating patient mobility and assisting with exercises or functional activities.
  • Transporting patients to and from treatment areas.
  • Implementing infection control processes.
  • Inspecting and maintaining medical equipment.
  • Performing basic clerical tasks to support clinical operations.

Education Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Certifications Required:

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from a recognized provider must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications:

High School Graduate or equivalent (Required). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification - American Heart Association (AHA) RQI.

Skills:

Essential skills include Active Listening, Effective Communication, Critical Thinking, Resource Management, Monitoring, Service Orientation, Social Awareness, Verbal Communication, Technology Proficiency, Time Management, and Writing.
