Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Orientation and Mobility Specialist to join our team at Sunbelt Staffing. As a key member of our team, you will provide virtual instruction and support to students with visual impairments, helping them develop independent travel skills in both school and community environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver virtual O&M instruction to K-12 students, ensuring individualized education plans (IEPs) are met
  • Assess and evaluate students orientation and mobility needs
  • Develop and implement customized plans to enhance student independence and safety in their environments
  • Collaborate with families, educators, and support staff to ensure students receive comprehensive services
  • Track student progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed

Requirements:

  • Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) or equivalent state certification
  • Active Virginia licensure or ability to obtain one
  • Previous experience working in a school setting is preferred
  • Familiarity with teletherapy platforms or willingness to learn
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
