Position Overview
Summary:
The primary role of the Cardiac Monitor Technician is to deliver essential nursing support to patients under the guidance of a registered nurse.
$7,500 SIGN ON BONUS - FOR ELIGIBLE EXTERNAL CANDIDATES ONLY
Key Responsibilities:
- Continuous observation of patients on cardiac monitoring systems.
- Identification of ECG abnormalities: Monitors cardiac screens and promptly alerts nursing and medical personnel of any dysrhythmias, including significant rhythm changes indicative of cardiac ischemia or acute myocardial infarction.
- Effective communication with nursing and medical teams: Ensures timely notification of any ECG alterations to the appropriate staff.
- Maintenance of monitoring equipment: Demonstrates proper placement of telemetry leads on patients and adjusts patient alarms, as well as manages admissions, discharges, and transfers within the monitoring system.
5. Utilizes resources and equipment efficiently and responsibly.
6. Provides patient care as instructed by the Registered Nurse, prioritizing tasks in collaboration with the RN.
7. Engages with patients, visitors, and colleagues courteously within the scope of responsibilities.
8. Adheres to established policies and procedures while completing unit assignments, including postings, work sheets, and maintaining knowledge of medical terminology.
9. Performs additional duties as assigned.
10. Complies with all responsibilities related to the position.
Education Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
Additional Information:
Required: A High School Diploma or equivalent is essential. Experience in a healthcare environment is preferred but not mandatory.
Minimum Experience: Zero to six months.
Desired: Active CNA certification in the state of Connecticut is preferred. BLS/CPR certification is also preferred.
