Position Overview

Role Summary: The selected candidate will be responsible for delivering quality recreational therapy services to adults facing significant mental health challenges. This role involves conducting functional assessments, planning and implementing therapeutic interventions, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to support patient recovery.

Key Responsibilities

The Therapeutic Recreation Specialist will:

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of clients' functional abilities using specialized assessments.
  • Design and facilitate engaging recreational therapy sessions, both in group settings and one-on-one interactions.
  • Document client participation and progress in accordance with departmental policies.
  • Actively participate in treatment team meetings, providing insights on client responses to therapy.
  • Plan and execute therapeutic activities during various times, including evenings and weekends, to enhance client engagement.
Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:

  • A degree in Recreation Therapy from an accredited institution, including completed internships.
  • Eligibility for national certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist.
  • A valid driver's license.

Preferred Skills: Experience working with adults with mental health issues, intellectual disabilities, and physical challenges is highly desirable. Familiarity with treatment evaluation and intervention strategies will be advantageous.
